Uganda Progress in Maternal and Child Health

In recent years, Uganda has made remarkable strides in improving Maternal and Child Health leading to healthier families and communities. Through concerted efforts and strategic interventions, the country has witnessed a significant reduction in Maternal and Child mortality rates. Dr. Richard Mugahi, Acting Commissioner for Reproductive and Child Health at the Ministry of Health, emphasizes these advancements, citing a decline in maternal mortality rates to 189 per 100,000 live births. However, challenges persist in achieving the ambitious target of less than 70 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births by 2030.
