Uganda Prepares for Malaria Vaccine Introduction in 2025
Uganda is gearing up towards the addition of the malaria vaccine to its routine immunization schedule starting in April 2025. In preparation, the Ministry of Health, together with PATH Uganda, has engaged with the media, cultural leaders, and community-based organizations in various districts across the country, with the most recent engagement taking place in Masaka.
The purpose of these engagements is to educate people about the importance of immunization, address the various myths and misconceptions surrounding vaccines, and improve vaccine uptake nationwide, especially for children.
Currently, Uganda is immunizing against preventable diseases such as Tuberculosis, Poliomyelitis, Whooping Cough, Diptheria, Tetanus, Measles, Hepatitis B, Cancer of the Cervix, Haemophilus Influenza, Pneumococcal infections, Rubella, Diarrhoea caused by Rotavirus and Yellow Fever.
