Africa CDC Director General Applauds Uganda Community Health Initiatives

Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director General of Africa CDC, applauded Uganda's leadership in prioritizing community health. "Strengthening community health workers is not only a national priority but also a continental imperative. They are the backbone of our health systems, particularly in achieving universal health coverage and addressing emerging threats," he remarked, calling for increased investment and innovation to support CHWs across Africa. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Minister of Health, reaffirmed the government's dedication to strengthening health systems at the community level. She reiterated that the introduction of CHEWs marks a pivotal step toward improving healthcare delivery. Dr. Aceng revealed the Ministry's ongoing efforts to harmonize the different cadres of CHWs, which will streamline coordination and reduce redundancy in service delivery.
